Italy is a country of unparalleled romance. And on this adventure, you’ll get to see the landmarks of two of its most storied places – the Eternal City of Rome, and marvelous Renaissance Florence. You’ll visit the greatest sights in each, from Rome’s Colosseum and Vatican museums to the Duomo and Michelangelo’s celebrated sculpture of David in Florence. You’ll also enjoy a drive through the Tuscan countryside where you’ll visit a vineyard.
Day 1 Rome
Arrive in the great city of Rome and check in to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest or begin exploring the city. This evening join your tour director and meet your fellow travelers at a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the Boscolo Exedra Rome. (Dinner included)
Day 2 Rome
Morning sightseeing of the Eternal City with a local guide begins with a visit to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, where the center of ancient Roman life unfolded. Other highlights include Trevi Fountain, baroque Navona Square, the well-preserved Roman Pantheon and the famous Spanish Steps. The afternoon is free to explore on your own. Overnight at the Boscolo Exedra Roma. (Breakfast included)
Day 3 Rome
After breakfast, visit the Vatican, its Museums and the Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and Last Judgement fresco. Finally, continue to monumental St. Peter’s Square and Basilica. The afternoon is free to spend as you please. Overnight at the Boscolo Exedra Roma. (Breakfast included)
Day 4 Rome/Florence
Depart Rome by motorcoach for a relaxing day en route to Florence. Your drive takes you through part of the picturesque Tuscan countryside before reaching a local winery where you’ll learn about the production of the region’s famous Chianti wine. A guided visit of the historic winery will be followed by lunch and wine tasting. Afterwards, continue to Florence. Following check in, your evening is at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Albani. (Breakfast and lunch included)
Day 5 Florence
This morning’s guided walking tour introduces you to the historic sights of Florence such as the magnificent Duomo cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Batistry’s heavy bronze Gates of Paradise. You will also visit the Academy of Fine Arts where you see and learn about Michelangelo’s celebrated David. This afternoon is at leisure to enjoy as you wish. In the evening, enjoy a Tuscan dinner highlighting local regional cuisine. Overnight at Hotel Albani. (Breakfast and dinner included)
Day 6 Florence/Venice/Embark Ship
After breakfast, there will be time for some last minute shopping or sightseeing before departing by motorcoach to Venice where you’ll embark on your voyage. (Breakfast included)
