Ascend into the Andes to magical Machu Picchu

Standing amidst the clouds in the terraced ruins of Machu Picchu, Andean peaks rising all around you, you’ll imagine the peaceful life the Incans must have lead here. On this tour, you’ll be treated to two days at this world-renowned site, with a chance to view the fabled Citadel at sunrise. Spend a day and night in Cusco, known for both its Incan and Spanish colonial treasures. Here you’ll visit an authentic Pisac Market, where you can browse for alpaca sweaters, local musical instruments and other Andean prizes. And in Lima before and after your visit to Machu Picchu, you’ll tour the city including the Historical Center and have time to do some exploring on your own.

Day 1 Lima
Arrive in Lima and check in to your hotel. Overnight at a Lima hotel.

Day 2 Lima/Cusco/Sacred Valley
After breakfast, ascend into the Andes to the historic city of Cusco, where your first stop is a typical Pisac Market. Shop amidst the crowded stalls selling ceramics, felt hats, alpaca sweaters and mittens, musical instruments, paintings, antiques, a huge variety of trinkets, weavings and jewelry. After a delicious lunch, you’ll have the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure with dinner at the hotel. Overnight Hotel Casa Andina Private Collection. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 3 Sacred Valley/Aguas Calientes
Today you’re off to the Incan “City in the Clouds” of Machu Picchu. Visit Ollantaytambo Fortress, then board the train to Aguas Calientes, which will serve as a staging point for your adventures up to Machu Picchu. This afternoon will be your first visit to the ruins. Later you’ll return to your hotel in Aguas Calientes for a comforting dinner. Overnight Hotel Sumaq. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 4 Aguas Calientes/Cusco
Wake up and view the ruins at sunrise, well worth the experience. The morning is at leisure to allow time to return to Machu Picchu and its famous Citadel for a second day of touring. Enjoy lunch at the hotel before boarding the train back to the Sacred Valley. Visit Sacsayhuamán Fortress, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko, Tambomachay and Puca Pucara. Dinner will be at the hotel this evening. Overnight Hotel Libertador Palacio del Inka. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included)

Day 5 Cusco/Lima
Sightsee in Cusco, then fly to the capital of Lima for a tour of this Spanish colonial gem of a city. Visit the Historical Center including views of the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace. The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. Overnight at a Lima hotel. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 6 Lima/Santiago/Embark Ship
Transfer to the airport for your early morning flight to Santiago and embark on your Princess ship for our memoriable South America voyage. (Breakfast included)
