Discover the history and culture of Japan

Your roundtrip will lead you to the former imperial town of Kyoto, traditional villages and the capital Tokyo. You will visit historic temples, learn old craft techniques and dive into the culture of the Far East. After your land tour, you will visit further sites along the Japanese coast.

Day 1 Osaka/Kyoto
Arrive in Osaka and head to magical Kyoto, where you'll enjoy an evening at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel Nikko Kyoto.

Day 2 Kyoto
Today you'll sightsee to some of Kyoto's greatest attractions - including stunning more than 400-year-old Nijō Castle, site of two lavish palaces and several beautiful gardens, and the unforgettable Golden Pavilion. Savor lunch at a local restaurant followed by the Heian Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. Dine in a traditional Japanese restaurant with a Maiko show, sure to be a highlight. Overnight at the Hotel Nikko Kyoto. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 3 Kyoto/Kanazawa
Travel from Kyoto to Kanazawa via express train. En route, you will visit Yunokuni no mori, an arts and craft village featuring many local artists. Here you’ll have the opportunity to create a traditional Japanese piece of your own. After exploring this unique creative village, transfer by motorcoach to your Kanazawa hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight Hotel Nikko Kanazawa. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 4 Kanazawa
During a guided tour of Kanazawa, you’ll visit the Higashi Chaya geisha district, the Samurai residence area, the Kenroku-en Japanese Garden and the Oumicho Market. Learn the local art of gold leaf papermaking with a demonstration and opportunity to create a gold leaf souvenir of your own. Overnight Hotel Nikko Kanazawa. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 5 Kanazawa/Tokyo
After visiting the historic villages of Shirakawa-gō, you’ll board the bullet train from Toyama to Tokyo. A light lunch will be served on board. The evening in Tokyo is at leisure. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 6 Tokyo
The surroundings of Tokyo have plenty to offer as well. Visit Mt. Fuji, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and set out into Hakone National Park, where you'll ride a ropeway from Sounzan station to Owakudani Station and visit Owakudani Valley. Afterwards, complete a breathtaking day with a cruise across Lake Ashi, which is famous for its fantastic view of Mt. Fuji. This evening, you'll be treated to a farewell dinner with classic Japanese specialties. Overnight at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 7 Tokyo
An introductory sightseeing tour takes you through one of the most thrilling cities on earth. You'll see the Meiji Shrine, Sensoji Temple and Nakamise Shopping street, followed by a drive through the iconic Ginza District. The afternoon and evening are yours to take in even more of Tokyo's countless attractions at your own pace. Overnight at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 8 Tokyo/Yokohama/Embarkation
After breakfast, visit Tokyo Skytree Tembo Deck at 350 meters, for a remarkable city skyline view before joining Diamond Princess. Breakfast included.
