Our ships offer accessible cabins designed for wheelchair users, featuring wider doors than standard cabins both in the cabin and the bathroom. The bathrooms are equipped with a roll-in shower with a fold-down seat, an emergency call system, a handheld showerhead, and grab bars. The cabin also features an easily accessible wardrobe and a desk with wheelchair access. Additionally, all cabins are equipped with the touchless Medallion door system, which unlocks the door as you approach.
The barrier-free design of our fleet makes it easy to access the restaurants, theaters, spas, lounges, and open deck areas of each ship. Elevators have doors ranging from 91cm to 106cm wide, and there are wheelchair seating options in show lounges and other public areas. Onboard, you can make reservations and inquiries using the MedallionClass app on your personal electronic device or the interactive television in your cabin.
There is a computer terminal with JAWS Professional software available in the internet café, equipped with a screen reader program. A headset is available upon request. If you need assistance, please contact the internet café team onboard. Braille/tactile signage is available on all ships. Large print, Braille, and electronic menus are available upon request with a 60-day advance notice. If you prefer to have something read to you, feel free to ask a team member onboard for assistance.
Upon prior request, we provide "All-in-One Kits" with TTY devices for use in guest cabins. TTY kits can also be provided for your stay in our Alaska Wilderness Lodges on request for Alaska cruises. The TV programs onboard are captioned, and there are hearing assistance devices in the theaters.
Here is some important information about bringing mobility devices onboard:
If you use a mobility device or have special needs, we strongly recommend traveling with a companion who can assist you both onboard and ashore.
While we do not provide personal use mobility devices onboard, you are welcome to bring your own. Alternatively, we partner with the following companies that offer wheelchair and other medical equipment rentals, which can be delivered directly to the ship. If renting is a better option for you, please contact these companies directly:
Special Needs at Sea: 800-513-4515 or 954-585-0575, or visit the Special Needs at Sea website.
Scootaround: 888-441-7575 or 204-982-0657, or visit the Scootaround website.
Please ensure that your mobility device meets the following specifications:
Maximum device width: 55cm for standard cabins, 78cm for accessible cabins
Maximum total weight of the wheelchair, including the guest: 272kg (weight may vary outside the United States)
Your mobility device must be securely stored in your cabin when not in use. This ensures that the hallways and other public areas are clear, allowing other guests and the crew to move safely around the ship. We do not provide alternative locations for storing mobility devices onboard. If you need assistance with charging your devices in your cabin, please contact your cabin steward.
If you are bringing other mobility devices onboard or if you have booked Princess transfers, hotel stays before or after the cruise, shore excursions, or cruises, you must complete our Mobility Questionnaire (PDF) and return it to us at least 60 days before the trip.
Please note that filling out the mobility questionnaire is to ensure that our Access team can appropriately support your disability and mobility-related needs. The questionnaire is not an approval or confirmation of a request and does not guarantee that you will be booked into an accessible cabin or receive one. Please discuss your cabin preferences with your travel advisor or our service team.
Princess welcomes service animals trained to perform tasks, including those that support visual and hearing impairments or other specific needs as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please note that emotional support animals are not allowed on Princess ships.
Here is some important information about traveling with your service animal:
Travel Documents: Entry requirements for service animals vary by port. Entry requirements for service animals at the ports you visit differ, and there are some ports where animals may not be allowed ashore. You must check in each country you visit and obtain the necessary travel documents, which may include vaccinations, medical certificates, and other travel documents.
The condition of land accessibility varies worldwide. Some ports are better equipped than others, and the availability of vehicles for transporting mobility devices may be limited. We are here to assist you and provide you with the best possible land adventure.
Arrival to the Ship: If you have booked a Princess hotel package for the time before or after the cruise or a transfer, we can assist you in organizing accessible transportation. In some foreign ports, accessible transportation options might be limited or not available at all. Please make sure to fill out a Mobility Questionnaire (PDF) so that we can make the necessary arrangements for you.
Getting Ashore: Most ports provide easy access via gangways. Depending on the slope of the gangway, weather conditions, facilities ashore, tides, and sea conditions, guests using mobility devices may need to transfer to a stair climber. Our team will assist you according to local conditions to ensure your safety. For the safety of our team, crew members are only able to lift up to 22 kg (50 pounds).
In some ports, the ship anchors offshore, and guests are brought ashore using water shuttles. If a water shuttle is necessary, guests using mobility devices will not be transferred to or from the water shuttle if lifting beyond the aforementioned limitations is required. Many water shuttle ports do not provide wheelchair access, so even if a guest can board the water shuttle, they might not be able to disembark ashore. Again, this might be due to onshore facilities, wave conditions, weather, and tides.
The final decision regarding whether a guest can board the water shuttle or leave the ship will be made by the captain based on the safety and well-being of all involved parties.

As your destination experts, we offer you a variety of experiences ashore. We recommend reviewing our selection of shore excursions and making your choices. Each excursion is marked with an indication of its level of mobility. Accessible shore excursions might not be available in some international ports, and not all port facilities are designed to be accessible. Please contact us in advance if you have questions or need assistance with your accessible shore excursions. A completed Mobility Questionnaire helps us with preparations. Once onboard, our shore excursion team is available to assist you with your land adventures.
