What is the onboard currency and how do I pay on board?

On board all Princess ships, the currency is the US dollar. Exception: On cruises with Sun and Dawn Princess to/from Sydney, the currency is the Australian dollar.
At the beginning of each cruise, the passengers are asked to deposit their credit card details as a security. If the passengers don’t have a credit card or don’t want to reveal the information, they have to deposit $300 in cash.
The total amount of the onboard account has to be paid in US dollar in cash or by credit card at the end of the cruise.
On board, Princess guests can draw US dollars from automated teller machines with their credit card (but remember the exchange rate!)
All onboard expenses like shore excursions, spa treatments and purchases are automatically charged to the onboard account.
