Leif Eriksson, son of Erik the Red, already discovered in the year 1000, the east coast of North America and explored the area and his followers down to Boston. The first permanent settlement of Europeans, but was only about 600 years later, after America in 1492 was rediscovered. With the landing of the Pilgrims and the Mayflower this land was finally famous.
